He played the henpecked husband on many UK cooking shows from the 1950's to 70's.
He was Major in the Royal Artillery in the British Army.
For much of their run on British TV, he and Fanny Cradock were in fact not married.
When they finally married in 1977 it was revealed that Fanny was still married to her second husband.
He and his wife opened up the door for current TV cooking stars like Rachael Ray .
