Singer and host of the popular variety show, The Johnny Canales Show, which debuted in 1983. He was also a Mexican Tejano singer.
He worked as a radio DJ.
His guests included Jennifer Pena , Los Tigres del Norte , and La Mafia. He received a "Veteran of the Year" award from LULAC in 2009.
His mother was Mexican, and his father was born in Texas. He married Nora Canales.
His show is credited with broadcasting one of the first live performances of Selena Quintanilla .
