ABOUT JORGE BATLLE IBáñEZ
Politician and member of the Colorado Party who served as President of Uruguay from 2000 to 2005. He previously served as a member of the Uruguayan Congress for the Colorado Party.
He graduated from the University of the Republic in 1956, where he studied Law and Social Sciences.
He once publicly apologized to former Argentinian president, Eduardo Duhalde, after a conversation was recorded in which he claimed the country was full of thieves and corruption.
He was married twice: first to Beatriz Lamuraglia, and then to Mercedes Menafra.
He often traveled to the United States to meet with former U.S. President, George W. Bush .
