ABOUT JOS VERSTAPPEN

Race car driver who was at one point the most successful Dutch Formula One driver in history. He scored two podium finishes throughout his career. He has also proven victorious in A1 Grand Prix and Le Mans Series LMP2.

He started racing karts at age eight and became the Dutch Junior Champion in 1984.

He was in an accident while practicing for the French Grand Prix which later resulted in protective acrylic glass being installed along the edge of the track.

He was previously married to kart driver Sophie Kumpen. He has a son named Max who is also a Formula One driver.

He has competed as part of the Minardi Formula One team with teammate Michele Alboreto .
