He studied politics and literature at Oxford University.
He directed Joel Kinnaman , Samuel L. Jackson , Gary Oldman , and Michael Keaton in the 2014 version of Robocop.
He was raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
He and Walter Salles both became popular Brazilian film directors.
