ABOUT JULIE QUINN
Lawyer and Republican politician who served on the Louisiana State Senate from 2005 to 2012. She took office less than a month before Hurricane Katrina devastated areas surrounding the Louisiana district (District 6) that she represented.
After studying journalism at Louisiana State University, she earned a law degree from New Orleans' Loyola University.
As a member of the Jefferson Parish School Board, she helped open the parish's inaugural magnet school.
Her ten-year marriage to hotel executive Francis Patrick Quinn resulted in two sons.
She and Democrat Karen Peterson both served as Louisiana State Senators.
