Tapped to direct the new Captain America sequel, this Nigerian filmmaker has three Indie Spirit Awards, including one for best director.

Although he was born Benue State in Nigeria, because of his diplomat father he lived all over: the Philippines, Nigeria, Togo, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.  He graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, then got his B.A. in theater from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

While at NYU's graduate film program he completed his first feature as his thesis, The Girl Is in Trouble, which was executive-produced by Spike Lee

His father is the diplomat, Adoga Onah, and his twin brother Anthony is also a filmmaker.

His 2019 thriller Luce starred Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer , and the upcoming Captain America will star Avengers and Captain America regular Anthony Mackie .
