ABOUT JUSTIN HURWITZ
Film composer and television writer known for collaborating with director Damien Chazelle . He scored films including First Man , La La Land and Whiplash . He won Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for La La Land. He also won two Grammy Awards for his work on La La Land.
He learned to play the piano at age six and began composing music when he was ten.
He attended Harvard University , where he was roommates with Damien Chazelle. They collaborated on a student film that would become 2009's Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench. He wrote comedy for shows The League , Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Simpsons .
His mother, Gail Halabe, was a professional ballet dancer. His father, Ken Hurwitz, was a writer.
He is best known for his work on La La Land which starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone .
