
ABOUT KARL ENGEL
Master of art song repertory, as well as an admired interpreter of Mozart, Beethoven, and Schumann.
He came in second at the 1952 Queen Elisabeth competition.
He was internationally known for his work as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician.
He fathered Till Engel who would go on to become a pianist and also a professor at West Germany's Folkwang Hochschule.
He was taught by Alfred Cortot from 1947 until 1948 at Paris' École Normale de Musique.
