She was the first host of Bravo's Top Chef.

She was married to singer Billy Joel from 2004 to 2010. In 2018, she married TV producer Ryan Biegel. The couple welcomed a daughter named Iris on September 2, 2020.

She was a judge on the hit show Iron Chef America, which was hosted by Alton Brown .
