He is the husband of former Japanese Princess, Mako of Akashino. He is a practicing lawyer and a Buddhist.

He studied law at Fordham University in New York City, at that time he was employed at the law firm Lowenstein Sandler.

He attended the International Christian University in Tokyo, where he met his future wife Mako.

He met his wife Mako Komuro in 2012, they were engaged in 2017, and they finally got married in 2021. When they married, Mako lost her royal status.
