ABOUT KENNETH ANGER

Experimental filmmaker with a dark and surrealist style whose work included avant-garde films Fireworks and Lucifer Rising. He is credited with directing 30 projects throughout his long career. The last short film he directed was called Airships. It was released in 2013.

He became enthusiastic about the film after his mother took him to see a double feature of The Singing Fool and Thunder Over Mexico.

He was one of America's first openly gay filmmakers and one of the first to address homosexuality frankly on film. His 2009 short film My Surfing Lucifer was nominated for a Sundance Award.

He grew up with a sister named Jean and a brother named Bob.

He was friends with renowned playwright Tennessee Williams .
