He got his start as the TV and radio voice for the Kansas City Kings.

He became known for saying such lines as: 'He just sucked the gravity out of the building!' and Kobe Bryant , with no regard for human life!'

His father Bob Harlan served as an executive for the Green Bay Packers. His daughter Olivia Harlan became a sports reporter as well.

He and Marv Albert both became video game voice over actors for sports games.
