Dutch cyclist who won four Olympic gold medals and twice won the Tour Féminin in the 1990s.
She began her racing career in the late 1980s.
She retired from professional cycling after the 2004 Olympics where she won a gold and a bronze.
She married former track cyclist Michael Zijlaard in October of 1995.
She won gold at the 2004 Olympics where swimmer Michael Phelps won a remarkable 6 gold medals.
