ABOUT LEOPOLD KOZELUCH

Classical music educator and composer whose works showed signs of musical romanticism, but could also be reactionary in nature. He composed a concerto for piano four-hands that was widely considered to be one of the best examples of that difficult genre.

He wrote his first ballet for the National Theater in Prague in 1771. He would go on to write 25 more pieces for them.

He wrote close to 400 compositions and was criticized late in life for being too prolific.

He was taught by composer Jan Antonín Koželuh, who was also his cousin.

He was asked to fill Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's position as Prague court composer upon Mozart's death in 1792. He accepted.
