She earned a degree in theatre arts. She worked as a DJ for independent radio.

She was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for her song "Hold it in Your Hand."

In 2012, she had a daughter named Viva.

She has collaborated with artists such as Ben Folds and Richie Havens .
