ABOUT LOIS LENSKI
Newbery Medal-winning author and illustrator of children's books. Her best known works include the Mr. Small series, Strawberry Girl and Judy's Journey.
She attended Ohio State University , graduating in 1915 with a BS in education and a teaching certificate.
Her first historical novel, Phebe Fairchild: Her Book was inspired by her life in Connecticut.
In 1921, she married Arthur Covey. He was a widower with two young children. In 1929, she and Covey had a son named Stephen.
She illustrated books for other authors, including Maud Hart Lovelace , Hugh Lofting and Watty Piper.
