ABOUT LOUIS HIRSCH

Composed numerous songs and musicals during the early 20th century, working on Tin Pan Alley and for The Ziegfeld Follies.

His first professional gig was composing for Lew Dockstader's Minstrels. His first full score was for He Came From Milwaukee from 1910.

He wrote Love Nest, Hold Me in Your Loving Arms, and Always Together. His breakthrough success, 1911's Vera Violetta, was also Al Jolson's breakthrough.

He was born to Isadore and Henrietta in New York City.

He and Irving Berlin were among the nine founders of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers or ASCAP.
