He toured the People's Republic of China and Japan soon after his debut, which proved to be an historic occasion.
His country honored him with an Officer of the Order of Canada title. He was also appointed Knight of the National Order of Quebec.
His family noticed his talents while he was still young, and he debuted with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra when he was 13.
He had a prolific recording career, including three CDs of Franz Liszt 's complete works for piano and orchestra, the third of which was an Editor's Choice by Gramophone Magazine.
