Longtime collaborator with guitarist Pat Metheny who was responsible for most of Metheny's music.

He composed an album for the North Texas State University Lab Band, the first college band nominated for a Grammy.

His creativity with sounds, especially on the synthesizer, was a major part of Pat Metheny 's success and led to the Pat Metheny Group being awarded several Grammys.

His family was residing in Wausaukee, Wisconsin, when he was born.

He composed music for the audio children's book Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was narrated by Meryl Streep .
