ABOUT MADELINE SCHILLER
Heavily influenced U.S. music. She gave the 1881 world premiere of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2 in New York.
She studied with famed Bohemian composer and piano virtuoso Ignaz Moscheles while at Leipzig in 1860 where she would perform her debut in 1862.
She often collaborated with violinist and conductor Theodore Thomas after moving to New York.
She married Marcus Elmer Bennett in 1872, a Boston native, after which she moved to the United States.
She premiered many composers' works in the United States, including pieces by Camille Saint-Saens .
