Magomed Ankalaev
ABOUT MAGOMED ANKALAEV
Russian mixed martial artist who has risen to fame as a competitor in the light heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He found success as an amateur MMA fighter in Russia before signing with UFC in October 2017. He was number three in UFC's light heavyweight rankings as of August 1, 2022.
He trained in Greco-Roman wrestling and competed in combat sambo while attending Dagestan State University.
He won a Performance of the Night honor at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Oleinik. His ankalaev_magomed Instagram account, where he shares moments in his career as an MMA fighter, has gained more than 900,000 followers.
He is from Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, Russia. Ankalaev lost his father when he was in the ninth or tenth grade. He is the oldest son and has three sisters and one brother.
He has competed against Volkan Oezdemir and Thiago Santos .
