He was awarded first prize in pianoforte in 1909 after studying under Louis Diémer at the Paris Conservatoire.
His concert career was legendary, as he appeared across the world with orchestras in Amsterdam, Athens, Brussels, London, Prague, Sofia, and Warsaw.
His family was equally successful, having their own world-renowned careers.
He heard celebrated British pianist Yaltah Menuhin play Robert Schumann 's Kinderszenen when she was four, and he immediately brought her on as a student.
