ABOUT MARIA BERTELLI

English volleyball player who represented her country at the 2012 Olympics. She's also played soccer professionally and was in an FA Women's Cup final, but lost to Arsenal.

She grew up playing for Manchester United Salford before moving to play in Belgium in 2000. She signed with Charlton to play soccer in 2005.

While she joined rare company by appearing in both an FA Cup and the Olympics, joining athletes like Carlos Tevez and Pablo Zabaleta , she distinguished herself further by doing it in different sports.

She was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, but has lived all over Europe to play volleyball and soccer.

While with Charlton, she faced off against Kelly Smith and Arsenal in the FA Women's Cup in 2007, but ultimately lost 4-1.
