ABOUT MARíA JULIA MANTILLA

Beauty queen who was crowned Miss World while representing Peru. She is the second woman from Peru to be crowned Miss World.

In 2001, she was voted national athlete of the year for her Peruvian championships in Triathlon and Pentathlon.

Her aunt was crowned Miss World in 1969.

She grew up in Trujillo. She married Gustavo Salcedo Ramírez-Gastón in 2012 and she has a son named Gustavo Salcedo Mantilla.

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai also won the Miss World title in 1994.
