ABOUT MARIA MONTESSORI
Educational pioneer who created the Montessori method based on her belief that children are natural learners. Her educational method is still in practice across the globe today.
She attended medical school at the University of Rome and worked with mentally disabled children while conducting research through the University's psychiatric clinic.
Her Montessori method implements mixed-age classrooms that allow children choice and freedom. She was one of the first women to attend medical school in Italy.
Her father, Alessandro Montessori, worked as an official for the Ministry of Finance.
Alexander Bell was a supporter of her educational method.
