ABOUT MARTIN CHARNIN
Tony Award winner known as the lyricist and conceiver of Annie, the classic musical. He also wrote the lyrics for the plays Zenda and Hot Spot in 1963.
He played Big Deal, a member of the Jets, in the original run of West Side Story for 1,000 performances both on Broadway and on tour.
He worked with Jack Lemmon , Fred Astaire , and Ethel Merman on S'Wonderful, S'Marvelous, S'Gershwin, which won two Emmy Awards in 1972.
He married Shelly Burch in 2006. He attended The High School of Music & Art and The Cooper Union, from which he received his BFA.
His first work as a lyricist was on the Broadway musical Hot Spot from 1963, which starred Judy Holliday .
