Mary Pinchot Meyer

ABOUT MARY PINCHOT MEYER

Remembered best as the one-time mistress of thirty-fifth United States President John F. Kennedy , this New York socialite, journalist, and amateur artist is also known for her decade-and-a-half marriage to CIA officer Cord Meyer.

After studying at Vassar College, she wrote for both Mademoiselle magazine and the United Press.

Tragically, in late 1964, she became a victim of homicide. A half-century after her death, her murder remained unsolved.

She and her sister, Antoinette, were the children of journalist Ruth Pickerling Pinchot and prominent attorney and left-wing politician Amos Pinchot. Her marriage to Cord Meyer resulted in sons named Quentin, Michael, and Mark.

In the 2009 film An American Affair, actress Gretchen Mol plays a character inspired by Pinchot Meyer.
