He started tattooing in 2011 while in art school.

He's also a painter and favors trompe-l'œil pieces as well as still lifes.

His brother is Nikko Hurtado who has also been a tattoo artist and opened the Black Anchor Collective in 2011. He offered his brother his first tattoo apprenticeship.
