ABOUT MATT GAETZ

Republican politician who gained fame representing Florida's 1st congressional district in the US House of Representatives. He was elected to Congress during the 2016 elections. In 2020, the Department of Justice opened an investigation into allegations about a relationship he had with a 17-year-old girl.

He earned a BS in interdisciplinary sciences from Florida State University in 2003. He later graduated with a JD from the College of William & Mary in 2007.

He served in the Florida House of Representatives between 2010 and 2016. He has served as a member of the House Judiciary Committee during his time in the US House of Representatives.  In 2024 he was selected by Donald Trump to be Attorney General of the United States.

His father Don has also served as a politician. In August 2021, he married Ginger Luckey on Catalina Island.

He supported Donald Trump during his time in office as president.
