ABOUT MATTHEW DUNLAP

A Democratic member of the Maine House of Representatives during the 1990s and early 2000s, he took office in 2005 as Maine Secretary of State.

After graduating from the University of Maine with degrees in history and English, he enrolled in a state government leadership training program at Harvard University.

While serving in the Maine House of Representatives, he chaired the House Committee on Fish and Game.

He settled in Penobscot County, Maine with his wife, Michelle, and his daughter.

In 2011, he entered a Maine primary race for the United States Senate seat of Republican politician Olympia Snow . He was defeated in the primary by Cynthia Dill, who ultimately lost the Senate race to Independent politician Angus King.
