American playwright and screenwriter who is known for his play The Inheritance which was directed by Stephen Daldry . He is also the writer of the movie Red, White & Royal Blue . His work as a filmmaker has led him to amass over 120,000 followers on Instagram.

He graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in theater performance.

His play, The Inheritance is the most honored American play in a generation that has won a Tony Award, Olivier Award, Drama Desk Award, Evening Standard Award, London Critics Circle Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award. He is the first Latino writer to win the Tony Award for Best Play.

His father was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has one younger brother.
