ABOUT MAVERICK AHANMISI

Professional basketball player known for playing as a guard for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association and for becoming a significant figure in Philippine basketball by playing for other teams such as Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Alaska Aces, and the Converge Fiber Xers. He is also known for his Instagram account, where he chronicles being an American professional basketball player living and playing abroad.

He played basketball for Golden Valley High School. He was then recruited and played for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2010 to 2014. He was not drafted into the NBA, but his determination to play led him to the Philippine Basketball Association in 2015.

He was named to the PBA All-Rookie Team in 2016. He won the PBA Most Improved Player award in 2022. He was also a PBA All-Star in 2024.

His full name is Maverick Frankera Ahanmisi. He was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California. He is of Filipino and Nigerian descent. He has a younger brother named Jerrick who also plays basketball. He moved to the Philippines in 2015 to pursue his basketball career.

He and Marc Pingris are both famous for playing for the Philippine Basketball Association.
