ABOUT MEKELI WESLEY
2001 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year while a member of Brigham Young University ; he went on to have an international basketball career.
He was named MVP by the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News during his high school playing career for the Bulldogs at Provo High School.
He went undrafted in the 2001 NBA Draft, and chose instead to play internationally from 2001 until 2010.
He married Montell McDonald, with whom he fathered a son, Keliano John; his younger brother, Tai Wesley, became a professional basketball player.
He and Jimmer Fredette both graduated from BYU; Fredette then became an NBA first round pick of the Sacramento Kings.
