ABOUT MERRILL MOORE

American pianist and bandleader best known for playing in boogie-woogie and swing musical styles.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the second World War and later worked as a salesman before dedicating himself to a full-time musical career.

He was signed by Capitol Records in 1952 and recorded a popular version of The House of Blue Lights in the following year.

He was married shortly after World War II, and he and his wife lived in Arizona and California.

He was cited by Jerry Lee Lewis as a major influence on the development of the 1950s musical genre of rockabilly, the precursor to rock and roll.
