ABOUT METTE FREDERIKSEN
Rose to fame as the 27th Prime Minister of Denmark when she assumed office in June 2019. She was previously the Leader of the Social Democrats in 2015. She received heavy criticism for the way she handled the COVID-19 outbreak but ultimately was voted to remain as Prime Minister in 2022.
She earned a bachelor's degree in social science and administration from Aalborg University. She later gained a master's degree in African studies from the University of Copenhagen.
She was elected to the Danish Parliament for the first time in 2001, representing Copenhagen County. She served as the Leader of the Opposition between 2015 and 2019.
She married her husband, Bo, in July 2020.
She was appointed Minister of Employment by then-Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt in 2011.
