ABOUT MICHAEL KIERAN HARVEY
Musician known for his wide-ranging, diverse repertoire and for his advocacy of new music and composers.
He gained acclaim for tying with Edith Chen at the 1993 International Solo Piano Competition, which was founded by Croatian pianist Ivo Pogorelić.
He garnered critical acclaim for his performances and recordings of composer Olivier Messiaen's oeuvre.
He partnered with his sister, pianist Bernadette Harvey-Balkus, in 1998 for a two-piano ensemble they called Australian Virtuosi.
He also premiered many international composers and their works in Australia, including Milton Babbitt .
