ABOUT MICHAEL PONTI
Concert musician known for his recordings of great composers. He retired after a stroke left his right hand and arm immobile.
He gained much recognition after winning Italy's Busoni Piano Competition in 1964, making his Vienna debut not long after.
He founded a trio in 1977 comprised of himself, violinist Robert Zimansky, and cellist Jan Polasek.
His family was living in Germany when he was born, but he ended up moving to the United States where he married.
He was instructed by many respected teachers, including Leopold Godowsky .
