ABOUT MICHEáL MARTIN

Taoiseach of Ireland and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. He founded the Health Service Executive, a provision of health and social services for Irish residents. In July of 2022, he spoke out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Prior to becoming a politician, he was a school teacher for one year.

In 1997, he was the youngest appointed Minister of Education and Science in Bertie Ahern's first cabinet. He was only 36 at the time.

He married Mary O'Shea in 1989. They have five children together.

He met with Sanna Mirella Marin in April 2022 to discuss Irish-Finnish relations.
