
Minoru Niizuma
ABOUT MINORU NIIZUMA
Japanese abstract sculptor who worked in marble, granite, and other stones. His designs were geometric, organic, and occasionally folk-art inspired.
He was an instructor at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and then was adjunct professor at Columbia University.
His piece The Wave's Voice is perhaps his most famous.
He married Yuko Niizuma and they had three sons.
He and Sidney Morgenbesser both taught at Columbia University.
