Woman best known for being the first wife of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro , whom she married in 1948. The two were divorced in 1955 while Castro was in exile, after which she moved to Spain to live with her family.

She was a student at the University of Havana in Cuba when she met her future husband.

Her only child with Castro, Fidel Jr., was kidnapped by his father during a visit to Mexico .

Following her divorce from Castro, she got remarried to Emilio Nunez Blanco. She had three children.

She is the former wife of Fidel Castro , who turned Cuba into a Socialist state during his presidency.
