He began playing guitar daily during the summer before he entered college. After graduating, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music.

His song "2020" shot to the number one spot on the iTunes country chart.

He moved in with his grandparents at the age of 13. They were featured in a video posted on his mitch_rossell Instagram account on October 25, 2021.

He collaborated with Trisha Yearwood on his 2021 single "Ran into You."
