He created the first multicultural film program in the United States during his sophomore year at UCLA.
He won more than 200 awards, produced more than 20 films, and promoted films mainly focused on Chicano themes.
His father was a Mexican Revolution refugee.
He was an executive producer of Taco Shop starring Eric Roberts .
