ABOUT MOHAMED AMIN

During the period from 1983 until 1985, this prominent photojournalist produced many devastating images of the Ethiopian famine. He also established the Kenyan-based Camerapix company and wrote and published several books, including Pilgrimage to Mecca and Journey Through Pakistan.

He rose to prominence during the 1970s, when his photojournalism pieces were picked up by numerous Western newspapers and television news stations.

He was killed during the hijacking and subsequent crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961.

A native of the Eastleigh suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, he later lived briefly in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, before traveling widely in Ethiopia and ultimately settling in his native Kenya.

He documented the fall of corrupt Ugandan President Idi Amin Dada .
