Egyptian-Pakistani film director, screenwriter, and actor who began his career in the early 1980s.
He studied at the London School of Film Technique from 1962 to 1963.
His film Return of a Citizen screened at Cannes in 1987.
He had two children: Nadine and Hassan.
He began his directing career around the same time as British director Ridley Scott .
