First known as the ex-wife of retired NBA player Sedale Threatt, she then became more well-recognized as the wife of Dr. Dre . The pair were often photographed together at public events while they were still together.

After her divorce from Sedale Threatt, she and Dr. Dre married in 1996. She and Threatt were married for three years.

Before her marriage to Dr. Dre, she worked as an attorney.

She and Dr. Dre's son, Truth, was born a year after their marriage. Their daughter, Truly , was born in 2001. She and Dr. Dre filed for divorce in 2020, after 24 years of marriage.

She is the stepmother of Marcel Young, the son of Dr. Dre, and R&B singer Michel'le .
