Romanian politician, civic activist, and mathematician known for serving office as the 6th President of Romania beginning on May 26, 2025. He has also served as the mayor of Bucharest and as a member of the Chamber of Deputies. He has been a political independent since 2017.

He founded the "Young People for Civic Action" Association in 1998. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Bucharest. He also earned his Master's Degree from the École Normale Supérieure and his PhD from Paris 13 University.

He is known for his pro-Western views, such as his support for having Romania join NATO and the European Union.

He and his partner Mirabela Grădinaru have two children.

He is a Romanian political figure similar to Klaus Iohannis .
