ABOUT OBAFEMI AWOLOWO
Statesman and Nigerian nationalist who was the Premier of Western Nigeria from 1954 to 1960. He was also the founder of the Nigerian Tribune.
He was a teacher, shorthand typist, and correspondent for the Nigerian Times.
He helped bring about free primary education and health care in Nigeria.
He married Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo in 1937. They had five children.
Both he and Chris Abani are Nigerians known for their exceptional writing.
