ABOUT OMARI AKHMEDOV
Mixed martial artist who debuted in Ultimate Fighting Championship as a welterweight fighter in November 2013. He was previously a hugely successful fighter in other disciplines, having been a champion in sambo, pankration and hand-to-hand combat.
He grew up in Dagestan, Russia and got his start as a freestyle wrestler.
His UFC fights against Thiago Perpétuo and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos both earned Fight of the Night honors.
He is of Lak descent and comes from a Sunni Muslim family.
He fought Sergio Moraes in December 2015.
