Known as The Flying Fox, he was a five-time Speedway World Championship.
He made his professional debut in 1951 in the Filbyterna series.
From 1956-1967, he made the podium at 11 consecutive World Championships.
He was born in Tranas, Sweden, and retired to the French Rivera.
He is one of the most successful Swedish speedway racers, along with drivers such as Antonio Lindback .
